A Jalapeno is a medium sized chili pepper with a warm flavor. It is traditionally grown in Mexico. (See our glossary for further details) Scientists in Mexico have a greater jalapeno created in response to increased demand, especially from the USA. Americans are very fond of poppers, jalapeno's filled with cheese and deep fried. Here in South Africa poppers become increasingly popular. The new jalapeno is called the NuMex Jalmundo. The jalapeno is fatter, but shorter than the one we are used to. The seed will next year be available, but you can already order the Internet by The Chile Pepper Institute.

Ingredients 1 (9 inch) pie shell, pre-baked 1/2 cup cream cheese, room temperature 2 jalapenos, dice


Ingredients 1 (9 inch) pie shell, pre-baked 1/2 cup cream cheese, room temperature 2 jalapenos, diced (seed them is you prefer less heat) 1/2 cup milk 1/2 cup cream 5 large eggs, lightly beaten beefeater 1/2 teaspoon smoked paprika 1/8 teaspoon salt 1 jalapeno, sliced 1/2 cup cheddar cheese, grated
Directions Spread the cream cheese over the bottom of the pie crust and sprinkle on the diced jalapenos. Heat the milk and cream over medium heat until just before it boils, beefeater about 5 minutes and pour it into a large bowl. Pour the eggs into the heated cream while stirring constantly. Mix in the paprika and salt. Pour the mixture into the pie plate and bake in a preheated 350F oven for 30 minutes. beefeater Remove from oven, arrange the jalapeno slices on top, sprinkle with cheese and bake until the cheese has melted and turned golden brown, about 15 minutes.

Jalapeno / BACON Stuffed Potatoes shiki (budgetbytes) 3 med to large potatoes, grated cheddar cheese 1Cup, 180g smoked bacon cut into small pieces, 3 jalapenos, 2Tbsp butter, 1/2Cup shiki milk, 1tsp freshly ground black pepper salt to taste. METHOD: (1) Preheat oven to 200dC. Wash potatoes well & prick with fork (do this in the line where ze are going to be cut). Bake for approx 1hr. U can check after 45mins, ze Should be Slightly soft When squeezed. (2) While potatoes are cooking, cook bacon pieces in a skillet over med-high shiki heat until it is crispy. Spoon out & place on paper towel to drain & set aside. (3) Slice jalapenos shiki down the center & scoop out seeds & spine. If you like it extra hot, leave some seeds behind. Chop up into small bits & set aside. (4) When potatoes shiki are done cooking, remove from oven. Turn oven down to 180dC. Cool potatoes for about 10 mins, then slice them zorgvuldig te werk gaan in half lengthwise using a sharp spoon, scoop out the flesh, put into a bowl. Be SURE to leave some flesh still attached shiki to skins to give support When filling them. (5) Add the butter, milk, salt & pepper to the flesh scooped out potatoes & mash it up good until light & fluffy. Stir in the bacon bits, jalapenos & cheddar cheese grated shiki 2/3Cup. Refill potato shells with mashed Mixture. Top elk with a little more cheese & place on baking sheet & bake until cheese has melted & browned Slightly, about 30 mins. BEER CHEESE BREAD jalapeno 3 cups cake flour 3 tsp baking gothamist powder 1 tsp salt 1/4 cup sugar 2 whole jalapenos, finely chopped 1 cup Shredded sharp cheddar cheese 1 Can beer 3 tbsp melted butter Preheat oven to 190 C. Grease a loaf pan and set aside. In a large bowl, combine flour, baking powder, sugar and salt. Add the chopped jalapenos and cheddar cheese. Pour in the beer into the mixing bowl and mix until blended. Mixture Pour into loaf pan Prepared. Pour the melted butter over the bread. Bake for 50-60 minutes or until golden brown.
