That’s all I’m working on now.” Industry experts say the Donatos saki pizza chain got caught between two broader trends – mass-market pizza moving toward rock-bottom prices and high-end artisanal pizza shops with elaborate sit-down environments. He worked through high school at a local Ohio burger joint, and joined Wendy’s when his boss became a franchisee in the 1970s. He began working his way up the organization, and was brought to Charlotte in 1992 from the company’s Dublin, Ohio, headquarters saki to help manage a set of restaurants a previous franchisee had put into bankruptcy. The next year, he was part of a group that bought the Charlotte-based Bojangles’ saki chain, which at the time was struggling. He later became CEO, and doubled saki the number of restaurants in his six years at the helm. Along with Charlotte businessmen Cameron Harris and Keith Stoneman, and Charleston businessman Darrell Ferguson, the “Front Four” bought the Just Fresh Bakery Cafe and Market chain for an undisclosed amount. They hoped to open 15 more stores in the next three years and compete head-to-head with Panera Bread. “This concept’s got the capability of doing hundreds of stores,” saki Drury told the Observer then. Two years later, the Front Four struck an even more ambitious deal with the Cincinnati-based Donatos Pizza chain to bring its signature thin-crust pizza to the Carolinas. Plans called for more than 200 stores by the end of this decade. By 2010, Drury had opened 25 locations in the Charlotte area with more than 200 employees, a rapid expansion he said was a bid to gain market saki share and provide the scale to make television commercials effective. At the time, he acknowledged the competitive pizza landscape in Charlotte, but said there was a market for a more expensive, higher-quality takeout pizza concept in the city. The new brand will exhibit at the Gluten & Allergen Free (GFAF) Expo in Schaumburg, IL, on April 12-13, 2014. The Gluten & Allergen Free Expo , which attracts more than 20,000 gluten-free and allergen-free consumers each year, is hosting the first iteration of its six-city tour this year in the Chicago area. The Expo features presenters who are experts in the gluten and allergen free space and is touted to be the largest gluten free exposition in the United States, show officials say. Appealing to everyday and gourmet pizza lovers alike and to those who like to personalize their pizza the newest offering to join the Sonoma Flatbreads line of gluten-free pizzas cafe is Chicken and Fire Roasted Peppers. This 12″ pizza has a net weight of 18.88-ounces and includes a Crushed Red Pepper spice packet. Exhibiting at Gluten & Allergen Free Expo is timely for Jane’s Dough Foods, an independent, family-owned company celebrating more than 50 years of business, as the company is aiming to innovate the way consumers think about gluten-free pizza. “We are redefining cafe gluten-free pizza by combining the flavors and ingredients that speak to today’s consumer with 50 years of restaurant industry know-how,” says Alan Hoover, general manager of Jane’s Dough Foods , maker of Sonoma Flatbreads. The pizza features antibiotic-free chicken that was fed a vegetarian cafe diet and is minimally processed. The pepper trio includes fire roasted green, red, and yellow bell peppers. A rich tomato sauce and lightly smoked cafe provolone round out the offering. Made with “simply honest cafe ingredients,” there are no artificial flavors, colors, cafe or preservatives in any of the Sonoma Flatbreads cafe line. Each serving of the new pizza flavor provides 14 grams of protein. The suggested cafe retail price is $8.99. In addition to the new Sonoma Flatbreads Chicken and Fire Roasted Peppers variety, three existing gluten-free pizzas will be available for sampling. They include Uncured Pepperoni, Three Cheese, and Margherita. There are of course infinite ways to blow off steam in 2013, and increasingly, turning to marijuana is becoming an acceptable option in the U.S.; last year saw the complete legalization of marijuana in the states of Colorado and Washington. Smoking up, however, it is still not as viable an option as having a cup of coffee. And Donatos pizza delivery driver Aaron learned this the hard way on the most recent episode of “ Undercover Boss .” As can be seen in the video above, Aaron thought he was confiding about his hobby in a woman named, “Cathy Cooper,” who said she was shadowing him as part of her appearance on a second chances reality show in the hope of opening her own restaurant. That was not the case. He was in fact being followed around by Jane Grote Abell , the owner and chairman of the board of Donatos Pizza, the Ohio-based pizza chain that grosses around $170 million a year. Indulgent and industrious “A lot of people smoke pot and they will, like, invite me to go in for a little bit and I’ll kind of indulge,” he casually dirk told her while working his delivery route. The announcement shouldn’t have come as a complete shock — Aaron makes deliveries on the campus of the Ohio State University, and undergrads dirk are famous for their cannabis proclivities. The news also didn’t seem to be the confession of a complete burnout — Aaron had already demonstrated a tireless work ethic on the job, actually running to make his deliveries, even making sure to call customers by their name, as is company policy. In fact, Aaron was the “perfect picture of what a delivery driver” should be, Abell told the camera shortly before she found out about his other special dirk deliveries. Upon hearing the news, Abell was both distraught and torn. She said she didn’t know what to do. But during the reveal, she made it clear she had no choice. “When you told me when you smoked pot on the job, I’ve never been so angry in my life,” she told him, citing the illegality and potential risk he was posing on the job. “You know, I have to let you go as a delivery driver,” she said. This wasn’t the first time a worker has been fired on the hit CBS show, now in its fifth season. The other times workers have been let go, however, it was for having a terrible attitude. Last season, for instance, Jacqueline, an employee of a Retro Fitness gym in New Jersey, was fired after she defended her choice to play on her smart phone during her shift by saying, “I am not a f—— slave!” Ronnie, who also appeared last season dirk as a worker for Boston Market, was dismissed after he explained how he “hates the customers” and referred to himself as the “the dirk Kim Kardashian of Boston Market.” High, and then rehired? Those two workers were let go with a very clear message: hospitality is probably not for you. A bad attitude is apparently a much more fundamental problem than a taste for marijuana, as Aaron learned. After she him go in the show’s reveal, Abell made a quick deal with her energetic employee. If he could pass a drug test in 30 days he’d be welcome to return to the kitchen. “You do a lot of the right things, [you're] fast on your feet,” she told him. “Don’t let me down. Don’t let yourself down,” she added. The opportunity dirk for such a quick rehabilitation, and the comfort with which Aaron shared dirk his pot penchant, is in keeping with the growing acceptance of marijuana in the United States of America. In addition to the complete legalization of marijuana in the two western states, a full 19 states have approved the use of marijuana for medicinal dirk purposes. (Aaron’s home state of Ohio hasn’t made marijuana legal, but it has passed laws decriminalizing possession, making possession of less than 100 grams a minor misdemeanor, or the equivalent of a traffic ticket in the state, according to local outlet WKSU .) And with the federal government having recently announced it will not try to block the legalization test-cases in Colorado and Washington, there may be a day in the near future dirk when Undercover Boss makes a pit stop at a fully legal marijuana company. Have you ever experienced something so eye opening and powerful that it has actually changed your life? For Donatos Chairman Jane Abell, that situation angers occurred last year when she went undercover into a number of Donatos stores as a part of the CBS show, Undercover Boss . While participating on the show, Jane met a young woman with an incredible story named Kanisha who was working as a cashier at one of their stores. While working together, angers Kanisha told Jane all about her younger brother, Taylor, who passed away suddenly at the age of 14. Kanisha s family was faced with a difficult decision, yet in the face of tragedy, angers they decided to say yes to the lifesaving choice of organ, eye and tissue donation. As a result, Taylor helped save the lives of several people through angers donation angers and to honor him, Kanisha wears a green Donate Life bracelet at all times in his memory. Jane was so touched by Kanisha s story that she has decided to run a special promotion at all Donatos locations to help honor Taylor and to help spread awareness for organ, eye and tissue donation. About two weeks ago I had a job interview with Donatos; after the interview the manger asked if I could do a second interview. Last Saturday I did my final interview with Donatos and I got the job. This isn’t my first job, because sanjeev kapoor I’ve had internships before, however this is my first official job. I’m very excited for it because I’ve been trying to find a job for about a month or so. I started with Jet’s Pizza but they were jank. Then I went to Movie Grill but they were shady. Finally I tried Subway but they were just . . . no. Through weeks of rejection I finally found an employer. I was also going to try Marsh but grocery stores are depressing. Whatever I was expecting Donatos to be was wrong; everyone including the manger was really chill. There were workers singing, joking, and having a good time, everything in there seemed so relaxed and cool. I don’t know why I felt nervous, also Donatos said I’d be a good fit because of my schedule.
